TV in times of COVID-19

With the unprecedented crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic, the media industry finds itself in a challenging position. ReTV at Cross Media Café
Our consortium partner Arno Scharl gave an online presentation about the visual analytics dashboard: Topic Compass with the use of  COVID-19 examples at the last edition of the Cross Media Café. The presentation had a great response from the audience, some of which expressed how they found it  “...extremely useful, data brings facts to life”. Fortunately for those who couldn't attend the event, the presentation was recorded and is now freely available online. You can have a look at it here

Artificial Intelligence in the Audiovisual Industry
Consortium partner Basil Phillips, participated in the workshop “Artificial Intelligence in the Audiovisual Industry” organized by the European Audiovisual Observatory. The event focused on the increasing use of AI in the AV industry and how it is transforming the value chain: from content production, programming, to advertising and personalisation of content. Upcoming Events: Join us!

International Conference on Interactive Media Experiences

Due to the exceptional circumstances, this year’s ACM IMX 2020 will be held online. ReTV will be virtually demonstrating the Topics Compass tool for media organisations to predict future trending topics among their audience and use this to guide optimal content publication strategies online. We are also present in the Work in Progress session where we will explain the machine learning technology behind our topic prediction capabilities. You can find the full information here

Presentation at the EBU MDN Workshop 9 - 10 June, 2020

We are excited to announce ReTV participation at the annual MDN Workshop European Broadcasting Union (EBU).  Project coordinator and MODUL Technology CTO, Lyndon Nixon, will give a presentation titled “Metadata-driven TV content re-purposing and re-publication”.  This year’s event will be online and for the first time is free to register for everyone - So you can join us during our presentation on June 9th, at 10:45 am. You can register and find the full information about the event here


In response to COVID-19 measures and widespread travel constraints, the IEEE ICME 2020 will now be re-envisioned as a fully virtual event and free for everyone. You can now join us in our ReTV presentation! Consortium partners Vasileios Mezaris (CERTH) and Lyndon Nixon (MODUL Technology) will give a tutorial on “Video summarization and Re-use Technologies and Tools”. Find out more about the event here
