April Showers Bring May Flowers

A Message from Michelle Magida, Founder

April showers bring May flowers – a friendly colloquialism or a reminder? With April being one of the soggier months of the year, we can easily miss the opportunity to appreciate the beauty that is naturally unfolding. Sometimes a period of discomfort or hardship can provide a foundation for happiness and joy.

Negative emotions are not preferred but are still vital to the human experience. Discomfort, like pain or sadness, is the body’s way of communicating an unmet need. It also helps us to appreciate the good.

The truth is that sometimes we simply are not ok. As the saying goes, it's ok to not be ok. But once your mood starts to impact your choices, you may find that you aren’t proud of the person others see, especially when we rely on unhealthy coping strategies to ease the discomfort. Recognizing that you need help is a strength.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and it's time to end the stigma of getting professional support in navigating the development of one of the largest organs in our body.

Be well,
