From Trudi

It has been a very successful start to the school year for staff and students and it has been lovely to have parents visiting the classrooms as part of our Meet the Teacher class events.  You will be aware that this year we have divided our classrooms into teams, the team leaders have shared a little information about themselves and their teams in this newsletter.

Welcome to Te Ropu Nikau. The Nikau syndicate represents Teachers, Teaching assistants and students in Balmoral 1, StAR 5, Waikowhai Intermediate, Base 2 and Onehunga High School 1 and 2.

We are all very excited about the coming year and are looking forward to teaching your son or daughter and providing them with the experiences necessary to realise their potential.

Your student’s class teacher will be contacting you shortly to invite you to a meet the teacher event, here you will also have the opportunity to hear about how the class runs, how the learning takes place and how, as a parent you can contribute to assisting. He /she will also discuss the best way to communicate with you about day to day matters.

Te Ropu Kowhai
Kia Ora families and Whanau,
I am very pleased to have joined the Senior Leadership team at CASS as an Associate Principal at the start of this year. I bring with me many years of experience as both a class teacher and leader in a number of Special schools.  One of my main responsibilities at  CASS, is to lead the learning within our Junior school, “Te Ropu Kowhai”; supporting and enabling our teachers to have the skills and resources they need to provide the very best learning experiences for your children.

Our wonderful teachers making up Te Ropu Kowhai this year are Rema Gravatt and Cathleen Rowse at our Dominion Road school satellite classes, Cindy Singh and Bhavna Varshney at our Oranga School satellite classes, Teoni Jugg in our STAR 6 class and Lawrence Sharma in Balmoral 2 satellite class.  I am very much looking forward to getting to know all students and intend to spend as much time as possible in classes this term.

Your child’s teacher is as always, your first port of call for any questions you have regarding your child’s learning programme, but I am readily available to discuss or answer any queries that may be outside or above the daily class communications. Feel free to contact me by phone or email.
