Washington legislators have the opportunity this session to approve some key measures needed to move our state forward on an equitable transition off polluting fossil fuel use in buildings. Shift Zero advocacy is needed to support these bills throughout the session! Each week we will highlight opportunities to weigh in.

Take Action!

Building Performance Standards Expansion - SB 5722: This bill would set smaller commercial and multifamily buildings on a path to better optimize their energy use and reduce pollution – and provide owners of these buildings access to technical and financial assistance, with priority to frontline and low-income communities. A public hearing is set for Thursday, January 13 at 10:30am in the Senate Environment, Energy & Technology Committee.
Targeted Electrification - HB 1767: Allows public utilities to fund electrification retrofits, an authority already granted to private utilities, to expand clean energy opportunities for all utility customers. A public hearing is scheduled for Friday, January 14 at 10am in the House Environment & Energy Committee.
Energy For All: Community Briefing January 13, 12pm
