ENERGY CODE PROPOSALS MOVE TO PUBLIC COMMENT
The State Building Code Council (SBCC) voted today to move the full package of commercial energy code proposals out for public comment. There had been efforts by the fossil fuel industry to delete proposals regarding the use of efficient electric heat pumps before they had received public comment, so this is a win for the public process, and for climate advocates.
Thank you to everyone who asked the SBCC to value public comment on these important proposals! There will be many upcoming opportunities for engagement in the public comment period which begins soon. We will keep you posted as this moves forward and will provide more information on the value of these code changes. We appreciate your advocacy!
