Local event at Wood of Easter Clune 1st Dec
We are holding a low key local event at Wood of Easter Clune near Finzean this Sunday, 1st Dec. The courses on offer will be white, yellow, orange, light green, green and blue. Everyone is welcome - youngsters, oldsters, newbies, hard core, members, non-members, friends and family. Come and have a go on your own or as a group.
Parking will be signposted from near Finzean village Hall. Starts from 11-12:30. Adults £5 and juniors £2.50

Club training at Balnagowan 8th Dec
Our next club training session is on the 8th Dec at Balnagowan, Aboyne. The session will be led by coach Sue Barrie and is open to all club members, juniors and adults, with something for all levels from beginner upwards. Parking on the rough track to the west of the Tarland road 1km north of Aboyne.
Please remember to sign-up by the evening of Fri 7th Dec at the latest via the Doodle Poll here. It's really essential to know in advance who to expect at these sessions, so that enough maps of the relevant standards can be printed and everyone can be allocated to suitable training groups for coaching. Adults £2, Juniors £1.

Maroc Talent Squad Camp
After the club training on 17th Nov, older Maroc juniors continued on over towards Tomintoul for a training camp during the Mon / Tue school in-service days. Sunday afternoon saw a run up Ben Newe before the team converged on Wild Farm Cottage in Glen Livet, where the hot tub was soon warming up for some starlit recovery in the evening. Monday was a glorious crispy winter's day, and after cracking the contours of Loch Vaa the temptation to get to the top of Cairngorm was just too much. Whilst the descent would have been glorious on skis, it wasn't too bad a bum-slide either! There was plenty of refuelling, stretching, hot tub and plunge pool back at the cottage in the evening. Then on Tuesday morning an early run up to the top of Carn Daimh was followed by more technical training in the beautiful birchwood and contours of Docharn and Deishar. There was just time for one last hot tub and icy plunge to relieve tired legs before heading back over the hill to Deeside.
Maroc AGM
A highly successful club AGM and annual awards ceremony was held in Finzean last weekend. The main club trophies were awarded as follows:

MAROC Improvers Trophy – Jonas Newey
Jonas has shown huge commitment to improve his technical skills and physical fitness this year. He was 9th at the JK in SE England, and 12th at the Scottish 6 Days. He was selected to run for Scotland for the first time at the Junior Home Internationals in Northern Ireland and ran a strong relay leg to help his team to a podium position.

MAROC Junior Champion – Eilidh Campbell
Eilidh established herself as an International athlete this year at the Junior World Championships in Denmark where she came 33rd in the Sprint and qualified for the Middle Distance Final. At home she finished 2nd at the JK and won the British Night Championships. Since her early days as an orienteer she has made an outstanding contribution to MarOC junior orienteering and wins the trophy for a second time.

MAROC Commitment Trophy – Pat Graham
Pat has organised two of our three main events this year as well other smaller events. She is also a Level 1 coach, the club’s Publicity Officer and she looks after the club badge awards. Her unfailing cheeriness, good-humour and willingness to be involved, as well as her highly efficient organisation make her a very worthy winner.
