President's Report

It feels like a corner has been turned. The club has entered a new year following the AGM and this week the national rollout of the Covid vaccine is starting. We can look ahead with increasing confidence towards a more complete resumption of orienteering as the new year progresses.

However, we must still continue to exercise caution at all our events and activities particularly in light of the recent increase in Covid numbers on Deeside and the easing of travel restrictions over Christmas. Keeping a physical distance at events remains very important.

The optimism for 2021 is very real and is excellently expressed in the latest issue of SCORE magazine from the Scottish Orienteering Association. It is well worth a read over the festive period. As a club we have a great year ahead of us as we pull out of the Covid gloom and on the way to that, I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Take care, stay safe.

Christmas Score Caper – Glen O’Dee, 20th December 2020

On the last Sunday before Christmas we are putting on a score event type training session at Glen O Dee, Banchory. This will be a fun festive-themed caper aimed at our younger members and anyone else with good short-term memory! How many controls can you visit within a set time? And how many of these controls can you remember when you get back to base??! Bonus points will be awarded for fancy dress and for festive jokes that make the coaches laugh. We will meet at Burnett Park pavilion at 10.30 and walk together to the start, returning around 12pm. Maps will be provided and dibbers not required. Parking available by the tennis courts. Cost £3 adults and £1.50 children by donation to Maroc account. Any questions contact the organiser – swoobarrie@gmail.com.

We are limited to 30 participants so sign up here early to avoid disappointment.

Many thanks

Sue
