“There is some good in the world, and it is worth fighting for.” J.R.R. Tolkien
Up until 2 pm on January 6th, I was feeling somewhat optimistic about the direction our country was taking. We were 14 days away from inaugurating President-Elect Joe Biden, and the news outlets were declaring Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock the winners in the Georgia Senate runoff elections, giving Democrats a slim majority in the Senate.
Everything changed after 2 pm on that date. Never in our history, with the exception of the Civil War and the War of 1812, have we ever come so close to losing our way of life as we have in the past four years and most especially yesterday.
I know that everyone in the Upper St. Democratic Committee has worked very hard to get our goals accomplished but yesterday has proven that we have much further to go and that we cannot let up.
There were eight Pennsylvania House members that voted not to certify the election results for our duly elected President. Let that sink in, these men attempted to nullify your votes while collecting salaries that we fund. These representatives are in our backyard, and we should dedicate the next several years to make certain they will not be reelected. We ask you to join us in this endeavor. They are listed below along with their contact information. But we need to do more than just contact them and voice our opposition. We need candidates to run against them. We need committee people (USC Dems currently has 10 open committee slots), and election officers for the upcoming primary and volunteers. We urge you to join us in keeping Democracy alive!
