WELCOME FROM THE CHAIR

Will Glamore
PIANC A&NZ Chair.

Welcome to our May 2020 PIANC A&NZ newsletter. While everyone has been affected by the Covid-19 crisis, we hope that our members can find comfort in our personal networks and maritime connections.  We wish you all the best in meeting the challenges ahead.

PIANC's global efforts have not ceased. Internationally, three Working Group reports have been recently released.  Locally, we have moved our seminars online, rescheduled the APAC conference, and launched a YouTube channel to better connect with members.  We remain hopeful that we will see many of you in Perth later this year.

Finally, we appreciate that many in our industry will use this period for self-reflection.  To support our members and promote leadership in our sector, I am proud to launch our new mentoring program (details below).  We hope that mentors and mentees will find mutual benefits from this initiative.

In the meantime please follow our updates on LinkedIn or our website. For non-members, you are always welcome to join us!

WG: BERTHING VELOCITY ANALYSIS - LARGE VESSELS

PIANC WG145 (MarCom) 'Berthing velocity analysis of seagoing vessels over 30,000 dwt' has been released.  FREE to members.
The Report notes that available data on berthing speeds dates back to the 1970s and was derived from a limited number of vessels. With a change in naval architecture the dimensions of vessels are now much larger.
