Hi <<First Name>>

A few items to follow-up from Sunday’s service. We will send them in three emails.

3. Covid19/Corona Virus/Wuhan Virus

The Lord has placed wise and helpful people in our congregation and our community. Just this Sunday, Lorena Kanak ED director at Lavaca Medical Center spoke to us about some common sense things regarding the virus. No doubt you are familiar with the many closures across the country and Texas. This is done to prevent rapid transmission of the virus that would result in a surge of sick people beyond local healthcare capacities. Imagine a river flooding following an extended band of storms versus slow and gentle rains all season, even though the total rainfall is the same.

Given the information available to us at publication, we will continue to allow folks to self-select their participation at St. Peter instead of cancelling for everyone. You may want to attend Saturday, 5:00 PM worship as a way to stay under the 50-person gathering threshold. As you have heard elsewhere, if you’re feeling ill, have a fever or “flu-like” symptoms, or are at higher risk due to age or other medical conditions, please act responsibly toward your neighbors including “self-quarantine” or avoiding others as you’re able.

We will send updates regarding ministry at St. Peter only as needed. Please watch the Texas Health and Human Services website dshs.texas.gov for more specific information. You may also text LAVACAALERTS to 99411 and join the very useful Lavaca County Office of Emergency Management’s Code Red alert system. It was activated Friday about 9:00 PM to disclose the confirmation of a local man with the virus.

Please do not steal toilet paper, paper towels, paper/foam plates/trays, napkins, or plastic flatware and such from the church. Patsy noted some toilet paper was missing from the weekend. Those items are not included in the surplus property that is being given away.

NALC Bishop Dan Selbo has released the following encouraging pastoral letter.

Give Electronically
Warmest regards,
-St. Peter Office
