President's Message

So why is it now so hard to hire staff for your medical practice?  Currently, and suddenly, we are in a very tight labor market.  Thanks to the unemployment incentives, thanks to the workers who have left the labor market to stay home, thanks to jobs lost to automation, kids still out of school, and other factors, we are in the midst of a labor shortage.  SAMGMA can help.

Current wages are skyrocketing.  Those medical practices and hospital companies robbing you of your staff are offering more money to entice workers to jump ship and work with them instead. Some companies are offering up to $5.00 more per hour, robbing you of your staff. Word travels fast and before you know it, the staff member who left is recruiting another of your staff.  We are in the midst of the classic supply and demand scenario.  Employer demand for employees is outstripping worker supply.

Congratulations to the New SAMGMA 2021 – 2022 Board Members !

The new Board of Directors will serve their term from 6/1/2021 to 5/31/2022.  Thank you all for your volunteer service to this important organization.

Farewell to Current Board Members

Thank you to Shameka Moore (President-Elect), Khian Antwi (Treasurer), and Tom Duran (Secretary) for their service to SAMGMA during the past year.  

And a special thank you to Tom Tidwell, CMPE (Immediate Past President) for his service to SAMGMA by being a Board member a second time around.  While Tom is completing his Board term, he will continue serving as the Membership Committee Chair.  

SAMGMA is a volunteer organization, and our success is a result of Members volunteering their time to serve on the Board and Committees.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and United Healthcare Advanced Practice Provider Billing Update

In case you missed it, BCBS of Texas and UHC have made significant policy changes regarding reimbursement for patient care provided by an Advanced Practice Provider, specifically related to “incident to” billing practices.
