Snow Emergency Street Parking Ban in Effect
Due to today's snow event, there is currently no parking permitted on Village streets until Saturday, December 24.
Winter Storm Travel Advisory
The Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Police have issued a travel advisory due to the weather event, encouraging residents to delay plans and postpone unnecessary trips, as well as offering safety tips for those who must travel. View more information on the press release from the Governor's office.
Village Offices Closed December 23
Village offices will be closed to in-person visits on December 23 due to inclement weather, but essential Village services (public safety, snow control operations, and utility operations) will remain active. Administrative support staff will be working remotely, responding to emails and phone calls.
Village Snow & Ice Control Operations
The Village is committed to keeping streets clear of snow and ice to maintain safe vehicular and pedestrian traffic on publicly maintained streets and sidewalks throughout the winter months. To maximize department snow and ice control resources, routes have been established and priorities are given to main streets such as Hibbard Road, Tower Road, Willow Road, Green Bay Road, Elm Street, etc. The next priorities are streets and sidewalks around schools, churches, residential streets, alleys, and public parking lots. View information on parking lot closures during a snow emergency.
The Village’s snow-parking ordinance Title 10 Section 10.24.040 prohibits parking on Village streets whenever a minimum of 2 inches of snow has accumulated within a 24-hour period. Vehicles parked on the streets in violation of the Village ordinance are subject to a fine and may be towed. Please do your part to ensure vehicles are not parked on Village streets during snow emergencies. Doing so will greatly help us to plow streets. If you suspect your car has been towed, please call 847-501-6034.
Our snow and ice team is comprised of highly skilled and well-trained individuals determined to provide motorists and pedestrians the highest level of snow and ice control services possible to ensure a safe and enjoyable winter season. Please call 847-716-3568 with questions.
To report a power outage, call the Water & Electric emergency number: 847-501-2531.
For a public safety response, always call 911.
