Village of Winnetka Launches 'Distinctly Winnetka' Text Loyalty Program
The Village of Winnetka is excited to announce the launch of a new ‘Shop Local’ mobile initiative called "Distinctly Winnetka" that spotlights local businesses and their promotions or events. The initiative works by sending text messages to Winnetka residents that include a list of local businesses and their news or promotions. There is no cost to participate in the program for businesses or residents.

Volunteer to be a Poll Worker for the November 3 Election
Due to a nationwide shortage of poll workers (election judges) for the November 3 election, non-partisan groups are recruiting poll workers from populations that are less at-risk to ensure that polling places are safe, secure, and fully-staffed this year. If you or someone you know is willing to serve as a poll worker, visit powerthepolls.org. This website will redirect you to your correct election agency. Poll workers will be issued PPE, will receive training, and are usually paid, but this varies by district.

A Thank You Message from Winnetka School District 36 to the Community
As a community, District 36 met a significant milestone by welcoming over 1,500 K-8 students back to campus and 100 students learning remotely on August 27. August's return to school involved over 4,000 hours of summer work and significant involvement of our entire community. Much has changed in our world, but one thing that has not changed is our steadfast, collective commitment to our schools and students. Thank you for all of your efforts to help support our safety and dedication to learning during these unprecedented times.

Recycling Tip from the Environmental and Forestry Commission
Recycled materials are necessary for the production of essential supplies including paper towels, sanitizing wipes, toilet paper, and packaging for a wide range of products including boxes for shipping. Many businesses that would normally generate large amounts of recyclables have limited operations, so household recycling is vital to the continued supply of raw materials for U.S. manufacturing sectors.
When recycling, keep materials clean and dry as possible. Only place materials in your recycling bin that are accepted by our contracted hauler, and use drop-off recycling programs for other materials. Keep plastic bags, masks, wipes, and latex gloves out of your recycling bin.
