Augustine is credited with saying, “Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you.” In our Ignite Indiana evangelism initiative, what if we, the members of the Indiana Conference, were to implement Augustine’s formula? What if we prayed like there was nothing else we could do to save a soul? And what if we worked like there was nothing but our own efforts that would bring a soul to Christ? The combination of God’s divine power and our dedicated efforts would be amazing indeed.
I say, let’s do that! Let’s pray and work here in Indiana like we never have before! And here’s a good place to start.
February 16th, Robert Costa of It Is Written will hold an Ignite Indiana rally called, God Still Opens Doors from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at the Glendale SDA Church in Indianapolis. I urge you to come in person or view the livestream of this inspiring message and gathering of members from around the state.
Pastor Costa will highlight what God will do, as we depend on Him, to open doors for sharing our special message throughout Indiana between now and the end of 2020. You won’t want to miss it!
Now as God opens doors, we must be prepared for the evangelistic opportunities we’ll have during the next two years. Accordingly, we are encouraging our Indiana churches to adopt a five-phase cycle of evangelism that includes:
1. Personal revival;
4. Reaping events; and
5. Retention of new members.
We want to glean souls from soil that is softened and seeds that have been planted and well-watered before the time of reaping. As our churches adopt an evangelistic cycle, we’ll see that evangelism is not an occasional event, but a soul-winning lifestyle in the local church that continues non-stop until Jesus comes. So, what do you say? Let’s start “cycling” for Christ and see how great a harvest we can gather during Ignite Indiana and beyond!

"Prodigal son's return after 40 years":
Gary D. Smith has grown up in Seventh-day Adventist home and as a child was attending Lafayette Christian School, in West Lafayette, Indiana. He remained influenced by denominational education until the time of his graduation from elementary school. At that time he decided to live in the world and to attend public school. His mom Loretta (see the picture) was asking him to come back to church and being baptized. He refused by asking her not to talk to him about it anymore! 40 years later (!), after his mom's many many prayers, he came to church on Sabbath desiring to worship God. Two years later, after many Bible studies, Gary was baptized. His mom attended that very emotional baptismal service. We praise the Lord for testimonies like this, which can be an example to our young people and their parents today! Praise the Lord!

Jeremiah 17: 7 New King James Version (NKJV)
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.
Dear Merciful and Loving Father,
Thank you for blessing us to see another year, by your grace.
Amidst all the trouble in this world you still love us.
Inspite of our shortcomings, you are always there for us.
In this new year, may we grow to trust you more and more, our redeemer, and loving friend. And no matter what the future holds, may our confidence grow in you because of your tender care.
Help us Lord, we will always need you.
We praise you for all you have done for us...thank you for hearing the prayers of your children,
