Intercultural Communications Course

We have just returned from JAARS in Waxhaw, NC where we attended a month long Intercultural Communications Course (ICC). ICC is packed with a tremendous amount of material consisting of four primary aspects: Worldview, Spiritual Vitality, Interpersonal Skills, and Language and Culture Acquisition.

While impossible to describe everything covered in our monthly update, we’ll highlight just a few things such as the Sovereignty of God, Forgiveness, Spiritual Warfare, and Cross-Cultural Servanthood.

A few of the activities that we engaged in that have left a deep impression on us were the Field-proofing Your Marriage sessions that the married couples attended and the worship services that we attended each week.

We and two others were assigned to an Armenian church to attend while at ICC. This was an experience that was quite different from what our initial impression led us to believe. Over the course of four weeks, we came to develop a deep appreciation for the people and even their culture and liturgy.

The video below is a great recap of the ICC experience and was produced by our Minnesota friends, Luke and Noelle Garvey. We first met them in Orlando during our Equip and attended ICC with them this Summer.
Sold!
Last update we mentioned that we were preparing our house for sale. We now can share that the Lord found the right buyers for our Woodbury home. We will be moving in with friends here in Woodbury for a season, but it is bitter-sweet to leave this place that has been a home to us for the last few years.

Put on the Full Armor

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Ephesians 6:10-12 (NIV)

It is such an encouragement to us when we hear that you are praying for us or that you want to be partners with us in our Wycliffe ministry. We are all in this together and praise God for how He moves in your hearts to stand alongside of us. We are also very grateful for all of you who have been moved to partner with us financially. We can't begin our assignment until 100% of our Wycliffe budget is met. If you haven't already, please consider a financial partnership as well.
