Happy New Year from all of us at End in Mind!

2018 was a year of incredible growth for us and we are excited by all the upcoming possibilities in 2019!

We are grateful that our work is being talked about on a national level and were thrilled with this story on the PBS affiliated website Next Avenue.

"What does healing look like for me if I have a few months to live? What does healing look like if I have decades left to live? What is your next stage of healing?"

Co-founder and End in Mind Board Chair, Cathy Wurzer, shares lessons she's learned about the healing experience through conversations with friends facing the end of life.

Join us on January 12th from 1:00-3:00PM for Healing Stories with Health Story Collaborative at Shakopee High School!

As a part of End in Mind's activities in Scott and Carver Counties, this special event will teach us about the beauty of healing narratives and how to have healing conversations.

Rebecca Gladhill, a Shakopee resident, will share her story of illness and healing; her oncologist, Joseph Leach, MD, will share his story of working with Rebecca and his path as a physician.

The stories will be followed by a workshop led by Health Story Collaborative to provide tips for telling and listening to stories in ways that support healing, connection and empowerment. Register here.
What will they say about you?
In a recent blog post, Cathy Wurzer invites readers to join her in coming "face-to-face with our own mortality - if only for a few uncomfortable minutes," taking steps to live a more authentic life.

She writes: "someday, in the future there will be an opportunity for others to remember our lives, our accomplishments, who we were and what we meant to our friends and loved ones."

Thoughts for the New Year

Excerpt from When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi:

"I don't believe in the wisdom of children, nor in the wisdom of the old. There is a moment, a cusp, when the sum of gathered experience is worn down by the details of the living. We are never so wise as when we live in the moment."
