Unofficial, Socially Distanced Pride/BLM Parade

From the organizers:

SATURDAY, JUNE 13th 11 AM to 1 PM
From 5th & Central to San Pedro & Central

Due to the coronavirus, Albuquerque Pride wisely, for the safety of our community, made the tough decision to cancel its official events schedule for Saturday, June 13, 2020.

So we decided to have a fun, safe, alternative parade. Think Covid19 Birthday or Graduation Celebration Parade--just more spread out.

Please note this is not sanctioned event by ANY organization or business.

Route:

Driving east (towards the mountains) from 5th & Central to San Pedro & Central. You can join or exit at any point, safely, on the route. You can drive the route as many times as you want.

There is no set order of events or entry, just drive on Central between 5th & Central and San Pedro & Central. PLEASE ONLY TURN ON OR OFF CENTRAL IN MARKED LANES. DO NOT USE ART BUS LANE.
  • Participate at your own risk. NO LIFE GUARDS ON DUTY!
  • All drivers/vehicle owners are responsible for the safe operation of their vehicle and assume any liability incurred.
  • Registered and insured cars, trucks, and motorcycles are best for this event. Please have documentation of such.
  • BICYCLISTS: PLEASE USE CAUTION
  • All drivers must observe the rules of the road. Example: Don’t run traffic lights to keep up with others--stay safe
  • Participants must remain inside their vehicle at all times during the procession. No passengers in the bed of trucks. No hanging out of windows; no standing out of sunroofs
  • NO THROWING OF CANDY OR ANY OBJECTS FROM YOUR VEHICLE
  • Drivers should have their license with them during this event. Drivers should NOT be under the influence of anything except being fabulous.
  • Vehicles are encouraged to decorate for the celebration of LGBTQIA Pride. Flags, posters, balloons etc are wonderful, but must be attached in a manner so they don’t fall/fly off during the UNOFFICIAL SOCIALLY DISTANCING PRIDE PARADE. Also do not obstruct driver's view of the road.
  • You are welcome to join or leave the procession at any point along the route. Please do so safely.
  • NM STATE GUIDELINES IN REGARDS TO COVID19: do not hang out with people you do not live with or with groups of more than 6 people total. PLEASE WEAR A FACE MASK, WASH YOUR HANDS or USE HAND SANITIZER and PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING at ALL TIMES.
  • Most of all, be safe and enjoy this humble effort to celebrate being a Proud Member or ally of the Albuquerque LGBTQIA community.
  • SPECTATORS If you want to watch from side of street please do so at your own risk and do so safely. STAY ON SIDEWALK!
Feel free to stop at LGBTQ and ALLY businesses along the route and support those who support US. Do so safely, practicing the COVID19 guidelines listed above and store policies.
