The Plan + Resources
In our first message to you about COVID-19 on Wednesday 3/11, we shared an announcement from CSL home office and a prayer.  We pray first at the Albuquerque Center for Spiritual Living.  To be sure our community's other practical and spiritual needs are met, please find below more detailed plan for ABQ CSL community events and links to additional resources. Please be sure to either check this web site or (even better) sign up to receive email alerts, so that you don't miss anything.

ABQ CSL Action Plan

Effective immediately and until further notice, the Albuquerque Center for Spiritual Living will:
  • Suspend on-site Sunday Services (no community members will attend in person).
  • Invite the community to join us online each Sunday for a specially designed service in lieu of attending Sunday service in person. The Facebook Live link will be active each week a few minutes before service on Sundays at 11:00 AM on ABQ CSL's Facebook page. Use this link: Facebook
  • Provide an update on the situation to the community each week.
  • Deep touch cleaning protocols with bleach campus-wide.
  • Encourage people who are unwell, concerned for their wellbeing, or are in a vulnerable population to stay at home.
  • Follow all the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control.
  • Eliminate non-essential touching. Greet each other with smiles, waves, & jazz hands. (Thanks for the idea from our board president, Kenneth Winfrey!)
  • Adapt classes and SpiritGroups currently in session to online technology.  Zoom is a video/tele conferencing service our community already utilizes on a regular basis.  For those who participate in SpiritGroups and classes who may be attending via Zoom at home for the first time, you will be sent an email with a link and call-in phone numbers at least a few hours before your meeting time. Click the Zoom link and get your Zoom account and app setup ahead of time.  Contact your class or group leader for support.  The Center has a professional Zoom account which can be made available to leaders and instructors and members who do not have the ability to set up and use their own Zoom account. Prior notice or additional setup time will be required, so plan ahead when possible.
  • All other activities, classes, & groups will be postponed or held online only. If you need more information about a specific event not mentioned above, please contact the teacher/lead contact for that event. Or feel free to email Community Manager Jeff or Operations Manager Lisa (click a name to email).
  • As a popular talk show host advised, let's wash our hands and wash our minds.
We will stay in touch with you about any new changes or updates to our plan of action. Let us continue to stay prayerful, connected, and supported in Spiritual community. We belong to each other!
Should I Go Out in Public?
If you answer YES to any of these questions, you should avoid public spaces, self-isolate immediately, and call the NM Dept of Health COVID-19 Hotline at 855-600-3453. Please avoid public spaces until you've called the Hotline to be assessed.
  1. Have you traveled internationally in the last 14 days to any country currently designated by the CDC as a high-risk location for COVID-19?  At our last check, the Center for Disease Control lists China, Iran, South Korea, most of Europe, and Japan.
  2. Have you had signs of a respiratory infection in the last 14 days, such as a fever, cough and/or sore throat?
  3. Have you had contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with, or screened for, COVID-19?
  4. Have you traveled to another state in the last 14 days?

Instead of coming to the Center for Sunday Service, we ask that all community members please join us online for a specially designed service to love up our online viewers! The Facebook Live link will be active a few minutes before service on Sunday at 11:00 AM on ABQ CSL's Facebook page. Use this link:  Facebook

Spiritual Suggestions
Practical Suggestions from the World Health Organization
  • Wash your hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds and use alcohol-based hand sanitizer
  • When coughing and sneezing, cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue – discard tissue immediately into a closed bin
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands

Practical Suggestions for Public Spaces
  • Temporarily suspend unnecessary physical contact (hugging, holding hands during service, and handshaking)
  • Regularly sanitize public surfaces (doorknobs, lecterns, keyboards)
  • Provide soap and paper towels in restrooms, and containers of hand sanitizer (with at least 60-90% alcohol.)
  • Encourage people who are not feeling well to remain at home
  • Train staff and volunteers as needed
Stay Informed
The following links are national or global in scope.
Local resources you can count on may include your health department, local hospitals, etc. where you can trust that the information they provide is accurate and up-to-date.  Here are some resources suggested by the New Mexico Department of Health (DOH):
  • NM DOH has established a hotline for people to call and ask questions if they think they have symptoms or exposure. Authorities are asking that we not go to our regular providers' offices first because this risks exposing the area and others.  That will slow down healthcare places because they would need to disinfect the area and possibly test more people. They recommend CALLING your regular provider, your insurance carrier's nurse advice line, and / or the NM DOH COVID-19 hotline (barring needing 911 of course). The hotline number is (855) 600-3453. Once assessed over the phone, you will be advised of best next steps to keep yourself, your family, and your community safe.
