Looking for last minute PBL activities? Mouse Inc published several of their design-thinking and tech-making activities on their Mouse Open Projects website. No account registration required - facilitators can just share the link and kids can get started!
This slide deck has all of the relevant activities linked and some template slides students can use to present their projects and/or workplace challenge ideas.

YES hosts a Workplace Challenge

As their workplace challenge, SummerBridge youth from United Activities Unlimited is teaming up with YES staff and researchers to share their feedback on SYEP and help plan our last convenings. At our 10AM call last week, youth stressed the need to build community among youth participants before diving into work together. Other insights:

"The challenge in my opinion is that you need to try to work on a project with a group of people you have never met in real life" - Lizzie T.

"...we are learning some skills (like time management)... Leadership skills and more socio-emotional communication skills are what I suppose matter most now." - Rebecca T.

For more resources on workplace challenges, check out the catalog that Commonpoint Queens shared to help their facilitators select appropriate workplace challenges, and the tracker they use to see where cohorts are in their projects.

Got any virtual ice breakers to share?

We are crowdsourcing a list of ice breakers that facilitators can do virtually - a list you can use well past SummerBridge and into the fall. Contribute your favorites here and we'll send out the full list at the end of the summer.
