Winter 2021
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! We hope this newsletter finds you enjoying the season with friends and family as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savoir, Jesus Christ.

Thank you for your continued support and prayer for the Iceland Project and the Gospel work being done in Iceland. Throughout this season many exciting things have happened with our partner churches in Iceland.  Praise God as we rejoice with them and please keep praying God's kingdom would continue growing deeper and wider in Iceland.
In order to help us keep this great momentum going into the next year, and to help us support the Gospel work happening on the ground in Iceland, would you prayerfully consider the Iceland Project General Fund when you make your end-of-the-year gift

God has blessed Lofstofan in many ways this season but three main things stand out: youth group, Icelandic service, and new people investigating God.

In September Lofstofan launched a Youth Group for kids 11-18 years old that meets on Friday nights.  Often, starting things like this in Iceland can take a lot of effort and still garner disappointing results. However, the youth group is off to a really strong start with 10-15 youth gathering each Friday - in Iceland that is huge!  Please pray the youth who attend would develop true transformative relationships with God as the Gospel roots deeply in their hearts. Also, pray they would invite their friends to develop a relationship with Jesus as well.

This fall Lofstfon also started an Icelandic-speaking small group gathering. The group is comprised of people investigating God as well as Christians who want to worship God and study His word in Icelandic. The group quickly outgrew the house where it was meeting and has now transitioned to a Sunday worship service. Amazingly, the Icelandic service has almost as many people as their normal English-speaking service.  Please pray that everyone who attends both these services would deepen their relationship with Jesus, their savior, and with each other.

Additionally, many believers and investigators who don't speak English or Icelandic have begun attending Lofstofan regularly!   Please pray for wisdom on how to communicate with and minister effectively to this exciting group of people.

As God continues to grow the work He is doing through Lofstofan, please pray for wisdom for the leaders on how to best minister to everyone and balance all their responsibilities and priorities well.

More exciting news comes from Redeemer City Church of Reykjavik (RCCR). In October, RCCR celebrated its 1 year anniversary as a church! Their first year was marked by meeting virtually, then meeting in three different homes over several months, and finally the weekend following their first anniversary RCCR gathered and worshipped in an official church space. Praise God!  Though the meeting place changed often, the church grew in community with one another and fellowship with God.
Throughout the year, RCCR had the privilege of having several people who were interested in God and curious about RCCR regularly visit their gatherings. The number of regular visitors is growing as the church continues to settle into their official space.

The church meets for a fellowship/game night on the first Friday of each month. These game nights act as a fun, non-threatening way for the church to invite their friends to hang out and to get to know other believers.  RCCR celebrated its first anniversary and the blessing of an official location with one of these games nights in their new space, having two pastors from a partner church in the US attend as well. This allowed non-believing friends who hadn't come to a worship gathering the opportunity to check out the space and help make them feel comfortable if they choose to attend a worship gathering in the future.

Also, Christian Student Fellowship (CSF), an on-campus college ministry, has been meeting every week this semester to learn how to study the Bible, and they also have a game/movie night once a month. This group has grown in their understanding of how to read and study God’s Word and they have also formed a compelling Christian community on campus.

Please pray for Redeemer City Church, CSF, and the friends of RCCR. Pray that many will continue attending the worship gatherings, asking about God, seeking answers in the Bible, and that they will soon proclaim Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
How You Can Help Continue the Great Work God is Doing in Iceland?

Help us spread the word! Tell your friends, pastors, or missions leaders about the need for the Gospel in Iceland. Share our website, social media, newsletters, video, and book with them. Ask them to consider if God is calling them to pray, give, or go.

In an effort to support our partner churches in Iceland we are developing a list of mature Christians who can help interpret Gospel-centered conversations for our brothers and sisters ministering to non-English, non-Icelandic speaking people.  If you speak English and a Middle Eastern language (i.e. Arabic, Farsi, Urdu, Punjabi...) and are willing to help interpret these conversations, please contact our Project Administrator at

Please continue to pray for the people of Iceland! Prayer works! We are seeing God do incredible work!
