Bag Ban Deadline: 1 July 2018

The Queensland Government will enforce a state-wide ban on single-use plastic bags from 1 July 2018.

This ban will affect all retailers – from grocery stores to fashion boutiques, from convenience stores to fast food outlets – that currently use light-weight plastic bags, including HDPE plastic, biodegradable, compostable and degradable bags.

Retailers should have started to phase plastic bags out of their supply chain if they haven't already. Make the transition now to avoid penalties.
