THANK YOU

Thank you to everyone who took part in the recent Kitjarra-dja-bul Bullarto langi-ut community survey.

We received nearly 200 survey responses through our Engage Victoria site, showing strong community interest in the Kitjarra-dja-bul Bullarto langi-ut project and masterplan.

There was a good mix of respondents from active volunteers and community based groups; those who visit or regularly use the river corridors; visitors from outside the region; businesses that have an interest in management of the corridors and landholders with property directly fronting the rivers.

Read on to see some of the initial takeaways from the survey responses.

Vision

The majority of respondants supported the vision statement:

“The Kitjarra-dja-bul Bullarto langi-ut is a well – connected, diverse and healthy waterway landscape, that balances recreation, conservation, respect of place and culture, that also provides for everyday enjoyment of nature, community, liveability and wellbeing.”

Vision

The two most cited reasons for supporting the vision statement were: maintaining the environmental character of the river corridors and river access and connection.

The River Corridor

When asking what respondents most enjoyed about the river corridors, the most frequent responses were natural values and the environment, recreational use, river access and connection, landscape amenity and health and well being.

Project Ideas

There were lots of innovative project ideas submitted on improvements to the river corridor with the most frequent response related to trail maintenance, enhancement and extension.

We are currently collating and prioritising project ideas for inout to the masterplan.
