REMINDER - The Barwon Flagship drop-in session

Thursday 4th August
3:00-5:00pm

Forrest General Store, 33 Grant Street Forrest

The Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CMA) will be outside the Forrest General Store next week, and we want to hear from you.

Come join us for afternoon tea, pick up an indigenous seedling for your garden, tell us what you value about the Upper Barwon River, and have an opportunity to discuss some of the work the Corangamite CMA undertakes.

Representatives from the Corangamite CMA, including the Citizen Science, Environmental Water and Riparian teams, will be on hand to listen, take questions and chat about the new Barwon Flagship project.

Please note the two previously advertised drop in sessions have been cancelled due to public health concerns. To reduce health risks this alternative outdoor session is being delivered.

We want to hear from you

The Corangamite CMA  is partnering with Barwon Water and Upper Barwon Landcare Network to work with landholders and the community to look at ways we can improve the health of the water and land directly beside the waterway (riparian area). Our initial focus for the project is the East and West Branch of the Barwon to their confluence and Dewing Creek as per the map.
We know we have problems with willows and another weed (glyceria) that cause “chokes” and reduce or prevent the flow of environmental water releases further downstream.

While we have identified that these issues need to be addressed we would also like to hear from the community and this survey is one opportunity for community members to share their aspirations for what they value most about the river. We will use this information to inform the project going forward and would like to share “what we heard” later in the year.

Please note no names are being asked for and all responses to this survey will remain anonymous

The Barwon River was identified in Water for Victoria (2016) as a priority waterway within the region. This project is consistent with the Barwon Ministerial Advisory Committee (Barwon MAC) discussion paper and the recently released Rivers of the Barwon (Barre Warre Yulluk) Action Plan.

The Corangamite CMA acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land and waters on which we work, and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging
