Exciting things happening this Fall at Sande!

Dear Friends of Sande,

It has been an action-packed summer at the barn! We broke ground on our new ADA accessible classroom space, hosted a ton of horse-loving campers, braved the smoky heat and celebrated the success of our Mane Attraction 4H Group at Fair!

Campers of all ages embarked on Sande to participate in every kind of horsemanship and horseback riding activity imaginable, from mock shows to barnyard roundups. We are incredibly proud of the time and work invested by our campers and greatly appreciate the support of their families!

Our Mane Attraction 4H Group had a tremendously successful experience at the Columbia County Fair and we could not be prouder of their dedication, hard work and equestrian accomplishments. Check out the article below for more details and some photos of their time at Fair.

Last month, we launched a special Barn Buddy Youth Enrichment Program in contractual partnership with Columbia Community Mental Health. This is an exciting addition to the Barn Buddy program where participants receive on-site mental health services from qualified mental health professionals while participating in horsemanship and horseback riding lessons.

The Boot Scootin' Benefit is coming up on Saturday, October 6th, and I hope you all will join us for a night celebrating our nonprofit programs serving at-risk youth and people of all ages with disabilities at Sande! I am especially excited to dance the night away to Hit Machine and watch folks ride the mechanical bull. You can check out more information below and buy your tickets now!

The Fall Lesson Schedule is finalized and ready for your review! Please take a look and sign up as soon as possible.

Thank you so much for being part of the Sande family!

THANK YOU to all of our campers and

Mane Attraction at The Columbia County Fair!

It was a fun and exhausting week for all! The Mane Attraction 4-H club has been the primary equestrian club at the Sande Barn for the past six years.  The members are: (Juniors) Maddie Kroon and Lily Meier; (Intermediates: Ada Kay Evans, Shayla Matsumoto, Karlynn Kenny, Isabell Fleming, May Bargas and Lindsey Hoffman; (Senior) Autumn Meier. They had a very successful week at the Columbia County Fair. Three Sande riders qualified for the Oregon State Fair -- Isabell Fleming, Karlynn Kenny and Shayla Matsumoto.  Just qualifying to compete at that level is a huge honor. They were, in fact, the only three athletes in equestrian performance events to qualify for State!

The girls from Mane Attraction won nine championships!  Ada Kay took the Western Dressage Championship, the Intermediate Trail Reserve Championship and the Western Dressage Championship.  Maddie took Reserve Champion in the Junior Showmanship and Championed English for the Junior Division. Karlynn won the Western Dressage Championship, the Intermediate Western Championship and the Western Grand Championship.  Isabell won the Reserve Grand Championship for English Dressage.  Ada missed qualifying for state by just a few points.  She did, however, win the 13 and Under High Point All Around Championship Belt Buckle the weekend before at the annual open show!

More important than the championships, all the girls and their parents had fun and learned a lot!  Lindsey and May competed at Fair for the first time, with Lindsey earning a White in Showmanship and May Reds in Showmanship and English.  Lily survived her first year at Fair and made it back again this year, earning a Blue in Western and Red in Showmanship!  And in addition to their Championships, Ada, Karlynn, Shayla and Isabell all won Blues in Showmanship, and Ada and Isabell took Reds in English.  Karlynn, Shayla and Isabell all earned Blues in Western. Thank you for representing Sande and for all of your hard work, ladies! We would like to give our 4-H leaders, parents and volunteers an extra big thank you as well for making all of this happen!
