Our parish is fortunate to be part of Knights of Columbus Council 553, an active council that has attracted a few new members from Holy Cross Parish in the past couple of years, as well as claiming a few parishioners as long-time members. In the past year, our council made a total of $70,740 in charitable contributions and contributed a total of 1,357 hours of service under the four areas of faith-related contributions… family-related contributions… community-related contributions… and life-related contributions… Holy Cross Parish was a direct beneficiary of the Council’s time and finances…
These numbers make up just a small percentage of the overall numbers reported by the Knights of Columbus throughout the world. This past year, more than 2 million Knights donated nearly $154 million to worthy causes, both large and small. And the Knights stepped up with close to 48 million hours of volunteer service. As the annual report stated, “Our charitable work is at the heart of the Order.”
