Dear Parents and Guardians,

We had a wonderful Catholic Schools Week. Check out the Catholic Schools Week Album on our Facebook Page and if you haven’t already done so follow/like our @hcgradeschool Facebook Page!

Last week we sent out information about the annual diocesan You Can Lend a Hand Fundraiser. This fundraiser has been around since 1982 and supports Catholic Schools from our Diocese. The proceeds of this fundraiser often go towards school projects, general classroom needs and even tuition assistance for our families. Each family will receive 30 coupons to sell at $1.00 each. We began our sale last Wednesday and the sale ends on Tuesday, February 21st. Families can decide whether or not to participate and choose one of the following options:

Sell the coupons and turn in the $30 by no later than February 21st.
Return ALL coupons without payment by no later than February 21st. (Parents will be billed for all coupons not returned by this date)
Sell the coupons, turn in your sale money and request more coupons to sell by no later than February 21st.

To encourage the sale of the coupons and participation in this fundraiser, we will be awarding prizes to the top 3 selling families. Students who submit the $30 payment today will receive a free dress down day on Tuesday, February 21st.

We hope this clarifies the sale and encourages you to support our school through this fundraiser!

Tuvimos una Semana de las Escuelas Católicas maravillosa. ¡Vean el Álbum de la Semana de las Escuelas Católicas en nuestra página de Facebook y, si aún no lo han hecho, pueden dar ‘like’ a nuestra página de Facebook @hcgradeschool!

La semana pasada enviamos información sobre la recaudación de fondos anual diocesana llamada You Can Lend a Hand, por sus cifras en inglés. Esta recaudación de fondos existe desde 1982 y apoya a las escuelas católicas de nuestra diócesis. La recaudación de fondos a menudo se destina a proyectos escolares, necesidades generales del salón de clases e incluso asistencia para la matrícula de nuestras familias. Cada familia recibirá 30 cupones para vender a $1.00 cada uno. Comenzamos nuestra venta el miércoles pasado y la venta termina el martes 21 de febrero. Las familias pueden decidir si participar o no y elegir una de las siguientes opciones:

Vendan los cupones y entreguen los $30 a más tardar el 21 de febrero.
Devuelvan TODOS los cupones sin pago a más tardar el 21 de febrero. (A los padres se les cobrará por todos los cupones que no hayan sido devueltos para esta fecha)
Vendan los cupones, entregue el dinero de la venta y solicite más cupones para vender a más tardar el 21 de febrero.

Para animar la venta de los cupones y la participación en esta recaudación de fondos, otorgaremos premios a las 3 familias que vendan más cupones. Los estudiantes que enviaron el pago de $30 hoy recibirán un día de vestimenta informal gratis (día de no uniforme) el martes 21 de febrero.

¡Esperamos que esto aclare la venta y los anime a apoyar a nuestra escuela a través de esta recaudación de fondos!

We, as a parish, have made a strong commitment to assist mothers in need, especially in response to the restrictive abortion laws enacted in the State of Indiana. Two recent examples of this commitment are your response to the Stuff a Semi campaign sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and the donations made through the Giving Tree to our recently established Walking with Moms ministry. Through the Stuff a Semi collection last November, our parish donated 1,438 diapers, 1084 wipes, baby formula, booties, socks, blankets, and other baby items… Just a few weeks later, through the Giving Tree, our parishioners donated 1,188 diapers, 19 packages of baby wipes, 9 blankets, plus towel sets, laundry soap, formula, shampoo, pacifiers, ointment and several pieces of clothing for the supply closet that our Walking with Moms ministry created in the parish center… Be sure to keep in your prayer those mothers whose babies will now be brought to birth and will need support to care for those babies.

The History of Black Catholics through Poetry

In celebration of Black History Month, all are invited to a presentation by Mr. Jenario Morgan, author of the recently published book of poetry Black Nouns, who will share his poetry and insights on Black Catholics past and present, saints and common folk, on Sunday, February 26 th , in the church at 11:45 am-12:45 pm (after the 10:30 am Mass).
Mr. Morgan majored in Religious Studies at the University of Detroit Mercy, taught high school Religion in Detroit, served as the first diversity director of the Archdiocese of Detroit, and has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for forty years. Learn about and be inspired by the rich heritage and important contributions of Black Catholics throughout the history of the Catholic Church.

Walk to raise awareness and funds for the work of St. Margaret’s House.
