Ramadan Kareem from all of us at Muslim Community Support Services. JazakAllaho khair for your unwavering support.
MCSS has supported over 1000 refugees and evacuees from Afghanistan during the past several months with food, clothing and social services. While the number of families arriving has slowed down, we are now focusing on helping the families with other needs: education, employment, and rent assistance.
We still need your help, there are many families who will soon run out of government agency aid and we will need to have funds to support them. Donate on our website or our Facebook Fundraiser!
This year we are excited to host an Eid Toy Drive for Afghan refugee and evacuee children, an initiative started by our lovely community members! There are over 200 Afghan children celebrating Eid in Austin for the first time this year, let's make it a memorable one for them!
Donations will be received on LaunchGood, gifts will then be purchased for each child, wrapped, and delivered before Eid.
We are looking for volunteers! Here are some ways to help out with the Afghan relief effort:
1. Enroll in Salaam Neighbors:
Make a real difference to an Afghan family. A team of volunteers will guide, mentor and befriend an Afghan family as they adjust to their life in Austin. Fill out the form on the link for the next training session.
2. Volunteer at the NAMCC-ICNA Food Bank: The food banks provides more than 200 boxes per week to families in Austin.
3. Register as a volunteer with Refugee Services of Texas:
Find out about volunteer missions first hand!
4. Fundraise for us!
Share a fundraiser on Facebook and spread awareness about our mission to your friends and family.
