Yesterday morning students got the opportunity to challenge themselves physically and mentally on the high ropes course! Students not only learned special vocabulary that is used for climbing but also challenged their inner self and courage by climbing up rope and log obstacle courses and and climbing trees to take the leap of faith. All with extremely safe harnesses, hard hats, proper equipment and many trained counselors!

In the afternoon students went to the Pali nature center to learn about fossils, reptiles,
and other animals that are found in out local mountains. They also got to experience a new class being offered at Pali. Freshwater Ecology. Here not only did the student get to experience wildlife up close (a family of deer drinking at the pond), but test the oxygen, ammonia and nitrates that are in the pond to show how healthy Pali Pond is. After testing the water students got to skim the pond for to look for living and non living materials. Many students found plants and rocks as well as a water bugs, tadpoles, and a few new-to-Pali species of small fish that have now populated the pond.
In the evening students went on a night hike and practiced echolocation and how animals of the night survive.

Today students will again have a busy schedule performing squid dissections, learning about energy, practice their direction and sleuthing skills in the orienteering class, and getting to practice their Katniss skill's in archery.  All students are eating well, sleeping well and having a great time!
