Dear School Community,
I have enjoyed my time here at St. Columban School. We have accomplished a great deal over the last 5 years and working together with our dedicated faculty and staff we have made many dreams a reality. We have worked to develop our academic programs, enhanced our Catholic identity and faith celebrations. We have regular celebrations of the saints, we started the living rosary, take part in monthly adoration, made the Walk Out of Poverty a whole school event, expanded Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, and pray the Angelus daily. We have fully incorporated an emphasis on the principles of STEM, developed an engineering program, created a strong arts program, worked hard to ensure critical thinking skills are front and center in all subjects, and developed a writing program and math program that is based in continuity from grade to grade.
As you know Msgr. Tuan has chosen to find new leadership for St. Columban School. He has not discussed this with me so I have no knowledge of his plans or vision for the school community. As a consequence of this it has become apparent that I do not have the authority to effectively lead the school forward for the remainder of the year or make decisions for next year. Therefore, I will no longer report to St. Columban School after Friday April 5, 2019.
Please know that all of the current scheduled activities for this year will continue to move forward and the Diocese of Orange will also provide support during the search for a new principal.
I wish you all the best.
