Serving in Svitlovodsk, Ukraine
Thank you for supporting Calvary Chapel Svitlovodsk and our family!
In this newsletter, you will read about our upcoming move, updates on the church in Svitlovodsk, and events in our family.

The Move to Dnipro

As we wrote in our previous newsletter, we are moving to Dnipro, Ukraine to plant a church there. Our move date is June 4th, just 10 days from the time of writing this!

We are excited to move forward in the calling we believe the Lord has given us and look forward to all of the wonderful things He has in store for the city of Dnipro. Our burden for Dnipro is to plant a church that in turn plants more churches in the city, and potentially in the towns surrounding it.

Yet we’re also sad that the time is quickly coming when we will say goodbye to so many close friends both in and out of our church family. We’ve been a part of the church in Svitlovodsk for 12 years. Nastya and I have spent our whole married life here together and our kids have been raised here. I’ve had the most incredible honor of serving as a pastor in this church. As it always is in ministry, God has used these people in my life to deeply change me and draw me closer to Himself. Though everywhere we are called to is home, and we await our eternal Home, Svitlovodsk will always have a special place in our hearts.

Speaking of homes, we found an apartment to rent in Dnipro and it’s located in one of the key parts of the city we were looking at for planting the church. As you can see below, it is just south-west of downtown Dnipro, but it is still part of the central district.

As I mentioned in the last update, we won’t immediately start official bible studies or church services. We will spend at least the first year getting to know people, to know the city, and establishing a core team around us. I will also be going through the Incubator course to be better equipped in the process of planting a new church in a big city. Please pray that the Lord would prepare the way before us; that peoples’ hearts would be open to the Gospel and we would show Christ to those around us.

Be sure to subscribe to our newsletters and to follow us on social media to keep up on what the Lord is doing in Dnipro!

CC Svitlovodsk Update

This is the last newsletter I will write from Svitlovodsk. However, if you would like to keep up to date on what the Lord is doing here in Svitlovodsk, and to know how you can pray for and otherwise support the church here, please subscribe to the Morrisons' mailing list to receive their newsletters.

We are now more than half way through 1 Samuel in which we have been looking at how God calls, prepares and grows leaders after His own heart. It’s very timely as right now God is raising up people to take over my areas of ministry. In the last couple of months people have stepped into the following areas:
  • Video editing
  • website and social media ministry
  • church announcements
  • running live sound
  • running the live stream and video recording
It’s been a whirlwind of a time getting everyone trained in a couple of short months, and I’ll continue working with them online after the move, but God has provided them in His time. Please pray for Dima (pictured with me below) who has been serving together with me in the AV field for several years and will continue to help train people in this area after we move.

With the larger church building, that means there's more to clean. We've been blessed to see people get plugged in and serve their church family by cleaning.

The church is still looking for a new assistant pastor, as the head pastor, Ben, will really need help in the various different aspects of leading the church. Please pray that God would provide for this huge need as well.

Church Building

We are extremely happy to say that the sanctuary is complete, and we have been holding live services with limited capacity along with live streams of the service.

Though we have finished the bathrooms, nursery and sanctuary, there is still quite a bit of work left to do. We haven't begun work on a few other rooms (including the kitchen and the whole third floor) and we still need to build a fence around the territory of the church.

Please continue to pray for the Lord's provision of these needs. We would also ask that you prayerfully consider donating, as the Lord leads. whether it's $10, $100 or $1,000, every dollar helps! If you would like to make a donation toward the building, you can do so using the link below. If you would like to find out more information about this, or have any questions, feel free to email me or contact me on Facebook.

Our family

Birthdays. Lots of birthdays!
On May 15, Nora turned 6 and on May 22, Meika turned 4. These girls are growing up so fast! They also had a birthday party together with a handful of their friends. It was a good time for them and an opportunity to have some fun before they need to say goodbye. Please be praying for them as we move. They'll miss their friends and Nora is having a hard time with the thought of having to make new friends.
We are planning on Nora beginning school this fall. After we get to Dnipro, we will have to visit the school we want to send her to in order to see if that will be a possibility.

The boys are crawling, standing, and getting into all kinds of trouble. They're both waiving hi and bye, and are starting to say words like "daddy" and "baby". They're an absolute pleasure to have.

If you'd like to see more photos and watch the kids grow up, check out my Instagram.
