Norm's Comments

In the last issue, I had asked for membership input for the Newsletter. At the time when this newsletter was written, I have received ZERO comments or suggestions. If any club member has any other suggestions for the newsletter, please feel free to contact me at mlm_news@mapleleafmarksmen.ca .
I would also like to ask that if any member has a suggestion for an improvement to the club, please contact a member of the Executive or Board  member in writing & they will bring your recommendation forward at a Director’s meeting & get back to you.
Pig Roast
This year's club "Pig Roast" was not very well attended. We had 45 people join us for a great meal & social celebration. I must say a Great Thank You to Dave Goodman for cooking, Debbie Goforth & Wendy Barnes for looking after the salads & food preparation, Ben De Franco for taking pictures, Don Smith for looking after the 50 / 50 & door prize draws and to everyone else that donated food and helped with this event. Hopefully next year we can attract more members to come out & join us.

Work Party
Our annual work party was held on Saturday May 25th. There was no help from the weather man. As you can see from the photos only a few brave members showed up to assist with club maintenance. For those of you that did show up a great Thank You for you efforts on this miserable day!

Good of the Club
  • The club has purchased an Industrial Vacuum Cleaner for cleaning the lead & powder dust off the floor of the indoor range. I have asked for volunteers to assist with this chore, which is going to be done bi-weekly on Wednesday nights from 7 - 9 pm. If anyone is interested in volunteering some time to assist with this please contact me at mlm_news@mapleleafmarksmen.ca. We are always looking for volunteers to help with these little housekeeping chores.
  • As mentioned in the last Newsletter the new Ladies / Handicap Washroom has now been completed and is OK to use.
  • Work continues on the Indoor Range to improve the efficiency of our Air Handling system.
  • After many months of meeting and debating, the By-Law Committee has come up with an up to date set of By-Laws which will be presented to the general membership in the early fall for discussion and voting on. We plan to host a special membership meeting to complete this task.
It is with great pleasure that we offer congratulations to Tonia Belleau (MLM Member) at her first International Match. She placed 3rd at the Canadian Airgun Grand Prix held in Innisville Ontario May 3 - 5, 2019. For those of you that don't know, the Grand Prix is an international Shooting Competition consisting of shooters from many different Countries and is used for competitors to attain their Olympic Qualifying scores.
