Ridetheberg - 23rd & 24th May 2020

Lent 2020

It is the season where people start giving up stuff: no more sweets no more coffee no more wine... We seem to spend a lot of time making these boundaries for ourselves, telling ourselves what we can't do and usually that just makes us want to do them even more.

This often ends up an endless cycle of telling yourself off and giving yourself a smack on the hand every time you get tempted or slip up. Its all rather sad really...

So this year why not change the approach to self discipline - Instead of giving something up why not take something up. Not just decide to start running in the morning but make a commitment - a goal of some sort. Stop focusing on the boundaries of what you can't do and start focusing on the goal, on what you can do.
One of my teachers preached a sermon once that really stood out - he shared an observation he had made on a sheep farm in the Karoo - In a paddock with sheep in that has fences the sheep always hung around the fences wanting to escape, but when the fences were removed and a healthy and appealing watering hole was introduced there was no longer a problem of sheep wanting to escape.
So what is going to be your watering hole for 2020 - what will be the remedy that makes the boundaries something unnecessary? We've got just the thing to take your attention away from the vices you trying to give up and encourage you to do what is good for you on all levels - On the 23rd and 24th of May Ridetheberg provides the perfect oasis of wholesome good fun to encourage you to get on your bike, spend some time with the fam and immerse yourself in the most beautiful part of our beloved country.
