March has arrived and we are eager to share news of the good luck of our graduates and career readiness resources more valuable than a pot of gold!  Our staff hopes that you have a shamrockin' rest of your month!

Career Exploration Course

As students begin to enroll in fall semester classes, please remember to make referrals to the SSC 2100 Career Explorations course. This 1-credit-hour class is designed to help students explore what to major in, what they can do with their major, and/or what future career path(s) to pursue. The course contains a variety of self-discovery, life design, career exploration, and major investigation activities designed to help students uncertain about their future.

You can also share a link to our Deciding & Exploring page on Mizzou Career Tools with a collection of resources, guides and videos to help students discern their interests and pursue their goals.

National Student Employee Appreciation Week is the week of April 10th! Student employees contribute to the programs and services offered to our Mizzou community every day. Ideas for appreciating students and details about the week will be available in the Supervisor Toolkit closer to the date. Let’s show our Tigers how much we care!

Advancing Student Career Readiness
Students develop career readiness through their curricular and co-curricular experiences at Mizzou.  However, recognizing these competencies within different contexts can be challenging.  Faculty and staff have the unique opportunity to help students reflect on how they can translate their skills toward relevant careers using a shared understanding and language of career readiness.

We encourage our campus colleagues to consult these newly created resources, Career Readiness Ideas for Instructors and Career Readiness Ideas for Supervisors for suggestions on how to help students develop their competencies and recognize their skills in and out of the classroom.

During spring break (March 28-April 1), Career Center walk-in services will be closed. We will re-open at 9:00 a.m. on April 4 for student appointments and drop-ins. Have a safe and relaxing week!
