November 2022
A Message from The Catholic Crusade
The Church dedicates the month of November to the deceased members of our Church. On November 1st, All Saints Day, we honor those already in Heaven with the Lord. On the following day, November 2nd, All Souls' Day, we remember and pray for the souls of the faithful departed who have not yet entered Heaven; their souls are in a purification state, which we know as Purgatory. Although Purgatory is a place of great suffering, these souls are comforted in knowing that they assured of their salvation and will be with the Lord for all eternity.

We are strongly encouraged by the Church to pray and offer up sacrifices for the SOULS IN PURGATORY throughout the entire month of November. The souls in Purgatory are unable to pray for themselves. Our prayers and sacrifices made on their behalf can expedite their time in Purgatory. In turn, they will surely return the favor by praying for us, who are still in battle with Hell for the salvation of our souls.

Prayers to Assist the Deceased
Recommended for praying throughout November
Litany for the Poor Souls in Purgatory

The Litany for the Poor Souls in Purgatory is a prayer to assist the souls of the faithfully departed who are serving their time in the pains of Purgatory. The Church encourages prayers and sacrifices made on behalf of the Poor Souls in order to expedite their suffering and passage into Heaven
Prayer for the Souls in Purgatory

A Prayer For The Souls In Purgatory is a prayer for mercy to the Divine Heart of Jesus on behalf of the souls in Purgatory. In addition, it pleads for saving grace upon those who are near their final hours on earth and upon sinners and unbelievers, and asks for blessings upon ourselves and our loved ones.
Prayer for the Release of 1000 Souls
from Purgatory

The Prayer for the Release of 1000 Souls from Purgatory is a prayer given to St. Gertrude the Great by Jesus with the promise of one thousand souls being freed from Purgatory every time that it is prayed.
Saint Gertrude Chaplet

The Chaplet of Saint Gertrude is prayed using regular Rosary beads and begins with the same opening prayers as the Rosary. However, instead of praying the Hail Mary prayer on the 50 smaller beads, the St. Gertrude Prayer is prayed instead.

SPECIAL NOTE: It is believed that Jesus appeared to Saint Gertrude with the promise of 1,000 souls being freed from Purgatory each time the St. Gertrude Prayer is prayed. Because the St. Gertrude Prayer is prayed 50 times in this chaplet, it would mean that 50,000 souls are released from Purgatory each time this chaplet is prayed with true devotion.
Prayer to our Suffering Savior for the
Holy Souls in Purgatory

The Prayer to our Suffering Savior for the Souls in Purgatory was written by St. Alphonsus Liguori in the 18th Century and implores God's mercy upon the holy souls in Purgatory for their passage into Heaven. It is often prayed as a nine-day novena for a special request to God through the intercession of the holy souls.
Novena for the Holy Souls in Purgatory

The Novena for the Holy Souls in Purgatory was composed by St Alphonsus Liguori and is generally prayed during the nine-day period leading up to All Souls' Day (although the novena can be prayed any time of the year). The novena invokes a special prayer request from God through the intercession of the holy souls in Purgatory.
A Prayer to Avoid Purgatory

A Prayer to Avoid Purgatory was composed by St Joseph Cafasso and is contained in The Life of St Joseph Cafasso by St John Bosco. The prayer pleas for the sufferings of one's life and at the hour of death, along with the merits of Christ's sacred Passion, discharge any debt owed for one's sins, which would otherwise lead to imprisonment in the fires of Purgatory (or Hell).
