A Message from The Catholic Crusade

The Church dedicates the month of February to the Holy Family. It may seem hard to believe but we are already at the halfway point between the season of Advent and the season of Lent; Lent begins next month (March 2nd)! In this month of February, the Church celebrates the feast of the Presentation of the Lord (February 2), and honors the Virgin Mary under the title of Our Lady of Lourdes (February 11).

There are two novenas that are commonly prayed in February:
The Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes (February 2-10) offers nine days of prayers and petitions to Our Lady of Lourdes in honor of her apparitions and messages given to the world through St. Bernadette at Lourdes, France in 1858.

The Holy Face of Jesus Novena (February 21-March 1) is a novena honoring the Holy Face of Jesus. This devotion was given to a Carmelite nun named Sister Marie de Saint-Pierre by Jesus as a means of making reparation for all of the blasphemies in which He has endured since the time of His Passion. Currently, we have posted Devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus on our website and YouTube. We will be creating a Novena webpage and video in time for the start of this novena.

December 4th is First Friday. For anyone interested in participating in the First Friday Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we have recommended prayers here, along with additional information regarding this devotion.

Recent Prayers & Devotions

Infant of Prague Novena Prayer

The Infant of Prague Novena is a nine-day prayer devotion and petition to the Child Jesus and His Sacred Heart. The novena generally is prayed on the nine days leading up to the Feast of the Infant Jesus of Prague, although it can be prayed any time.

The Prayer of Consecration to the Holy Spirit is a prayer consecrating oneself to the Third Person of the Holy Trinity.

Medjugorje Peace Chaplet

The Medjugorje Peace Chaplet originated in Croatia at Our Lady of Medjugorje's request to pray for peace in the world, in our families, and in our hearts. As seven is the number of perfection in the Bible, the chaplet recites the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be prayers seven times, beginning with the Apostles' Creed. The chaplet is followed by the recitation of the whole Rosary.

Holy Cloak Novena Prayer

The Holy Cloak Novena Prayer is considered one of the most effective novenas in the Church. Unlike most novenas, which are prayed for 9 days, the Holy Cloak Novena is prayed for 30 days in honor of the thirty years St Joseph spent with Jesus during his life on Earth. The cloak of St. Joseph is a source of shelter and protection for those who honor St Joseph as a spiritual father and protector.
