Hello Summer | May Campaign Wrap-up

We'd like to start with a BIG thank YOU to everyone who participated in our Move To Heal May fundraiser through your time, talents or gifts! The purpose of the campaign was to engage our supporters and inspire storytelling through the question, "Who do you move for?" and let us tell you, we heard some inspiring responses! #MoveToHealMay was a wonderful way to lead us into the summer!

Check out a few responses we received from our Dance Collective members below:
We also had the pleasure of partnering with FORM Fitness Studio + Boutique, Revolution Yoga & Cycle Studio, NAMI South Dakota and the Multi-Cultural Center of Sioux Falls on several donation-based classes in May. Thank YOU to each of these organizations, class instructors and all participants!

We raised over $1,5
00 through online and in-person donations that will go toward supporting our Healing Arts Program! In our program, 6-12 year olds will experience what it feels like to feel safe in their bodies through grounding techniques, movement and arts expression as we use a trauma-sensitive approach through the entire 8-weeks we spend with them. Stay tuned as we share the impact of our programming!

What's next? Like we mentioned in the intro, Hello Summer! Keep reading to learn about our happenings in June, July and August and how you can get involved!
COMING NEXT WEEKEND: Come visit Move To Heal South Dakota on June 11 in-person at our vendor booth from 12-5pm at the Festival of Cultures hosted by the Multi-Cultural Center of Sioux Falls. AND... get the opportunity to MOVE with us + see our Dance Collective in action.

Visit the Side Stage from 3:15-4pm for a short mindful movement class led by Lead Volunteer Instructor, Lisa Conlin, followed by our Youth Dance Collective dancing to the poem "Cloudburst" and our Adult Dance Collective performing "Wonderment". See the full schedule of events here
COMING THIS SUMMER: We are collaborating with the Levitt at the Falls to infuse Move To Heal performing artists and instructors into the free family friendly concerts that take place on 5 Fridays at 10am over the summer. Introducing... Move To Heal Movement Ambassadors!

So what is a Movement Ambassador? We are friendly, inviting and safe people to dance with or move alongside at each concert. We exist to add value to the concert experience and be a friendly face that children, youth and adults can come up to. You can find us at the front of the grass near the stage on the cement. Each Movement Ambassador will be wearing a Move To Heal t-shirt to identify themselves.

Below are the dates of each youth and family concert this year:
  • June 10
  • June 24
  • July 8
  • July 22
  • August 5
To learn more about the Levitt at the Falls and see the full event schedule with 50 free concerts visit their website or Facebook page. We look forward to moving with you for the pure joy of it!
COMING NEXT WEEK: Move To Heal is collaborating with ACE Academy for their Active-All About Activism and The Power of Movement through Dance camp.

Lead Volunteer Instructors, Lisa and Sydney will be dancing with the K-8 students to share in the physical, mental and emotional benefits that moving our bodies provides!
COMING IN JULY: Moving Light is unique collaboration between two nonprofit organizations, Headlights Theater and Move To Heal South Dakota, with a shared mission of making dance accessible in the community. Our two organizations are coming together to create a high quality, affordable and accessible movement workshop for kids in underserved areas of the community. This 3 day workshop on July 20-22 includes dance and yoga classes for youth ages 7-13 years old that will enhance their confidence while giving them a safe space to express themselves through movement.

Moving Light will be taught by Move To Heal yoga teachers and Headlights Theater NYC Professional Dancers. Participants and their families will also have the opportunity to attend a Headlights Theater performance on July 22, featuring a local musician and the Professional Dancers, free of charge.
