Dear friends of Cooler Communities,

We hope this e-mail finds you healthy and able to care for your and your loved one's needs during this challenging time. At the bottom of this e-mail we share some energy-related resources should you be in need.

Whether you are a school-leader, teacher, student, parent, energy vendor, non-profit or volunteer, we hope you will accompany Cooler Communities as we grow together across Western MA and (hopefully) the state.

In this newsletter, about every six weeks, you will find the latest updates on Cooler Communities projects, watch the many ways in which the Cooler Communities program is adapted to local needs and goals, meet some of the inspiring organizers and learn about curriculum ideas related to climate change and energy.

We hope that every newsletter will be a useful and energizing read for you, but if you would rather not receive them, just let us know! Everyone’s life - and inbox - are usually very full!

Warm Greetings,

Uli Nagel, Director,
Ener-G-save, Cooler Communities
We recently set out to interview some of our participating students and teachers, who are navigating a challenging time at school and still graciously agreed to an interview on zoom. Here is Junior Allison Markowski who is organizing the Hadley Cooler Communities event sharing her experience with students who are interested in doing the same.
Junior Allison Markowski from Hadley's Hopkins Academy shares advice for students interested in hosting a Cooler Communities event.

Planning for the 20/21 school year Cooler Communities program is beginning. Aside from the schools postponing their event from this year, we have the capacity for 3 more school districts. If you would like to be considered please contact us right away at education@ener-g-save.com.

To make up for the postponed Cooler Communities events this spring, at least in a small way, ener-G-save joined the EcoChallenge, a national event in honor of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. Over ten thousand people participated, 67 of them in our Cooler Communities teams and we ranked third in our results in Massachusetts! What's more, it taught us a lot about virtual engagement and community collaboration, something that we hope will benefit us in these uncertain COVID19 times. The picture shows some of the results. If you or anyone you know needs help with fuel costs, please contact your local community action program: In Franklin County, in Hampshire County, and in Hamden County:

Currently, many energy providers offer free, safe VIRTUAL energy efficiency audits with recommended insulation installed in your home once home visits can be scheduled again safely - AT NO COST! Call Mass Save at 1-866-527-SAVE(7283) or choose a participating Home Performance Contractor (HPC) who can also complete your Home Energy Assessment, insulation, and air sealing with this same offer.
