Gary Hay Named
Golfer Services Manager/Caddie Master
We would like to welcome Gary Hay as the club’s new Golfer Services Manager & Caddie Master.
After three seasons as on-site operations manager at RattleSnake Point Golf Club, Gary is coming to HGCC because it is home to a wonderful golf course with a time-honoured history, an exceptional leadership team and world-class facilities.
“I’m looking forward to meeting the team and working with them to elevate the member experience to the next level through our Golfer Services and Caddie programs,” Hay says. “I believe in building a team of leaders who think for themselves, anticipate member needs and problem solve on the go. When we do that well, we will exceed member and guest expectations making their time at the club a memorable experience.”
Gary earned his Class A Professional designation with the PGA of Canada in 2000. He has completed the PGA of Canada’s golf teaching and coaching programs. He is also certified by the Titleist Performance Institute in the specific disciplines of Golf Biomechanics and Junior Coaching. Gary is a Level Two NCCP Coach (National Coaching Certification Program of Canada) and continues to work with elite athletes and college/pro prospects.
“We are very excited to welcome Gary to the team. His experience in the industry servicing a number of well appointed clubs and their membership set him apart from all other candidates. Gary possesses the necessary skills to guide the Golfer Services team and build upon last season's successes,” says Head Golf Professional Emerson Mahoney.
Hay was born in Jamaica and moved to Canada with his family at the age of six. He graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Economics. Gary learned to play golf in his mid-20s while working at his family business in Virginia. His father didn’t play golf and Gary would entertain clients occasionally at corporate golf outings. He fell in love with the game. The family returned to Canada and Gary decided to pursue a career in golf. Hay worked at White Oaks Golf Club, Oakville Executive GC and Granite Ridge Golf Club as head golf professional before moving to Florida for five years where he played mini tour events and tried to qualify for the PGA Senior Tour. He worked at Golf Town Hartland and Golf Town Mississauga prior to RattleSnake Point.
Gary and his wife Heather live in Hamilton with their Springer Spaniel ‘Hogan’. He’s named after Ben Hogan, Gary’s favourite golfer.
