A letter from our team...

Aloha Team,

With hurricane season approaching, from June through November, my wife (Barbara) and I want to thank each of you for your hard work and dedication to help our team educate the community on disaster preparedness.  Your efforts helped our team achieve a significant milestone, which we are now recognized by the Honolulu City Council and the National Weather Service as a StormReady / TsunamiReady community.

The Wai`anae Coast Emergency Preparedness Fair, which is being held on June 2, 2018, is a time for all of us to enhance the safety of our community.  Encourage your family, friends, and neighbors to come out and learn how to prepare for hurricanes and other emergencies that could threaten our homes, our workplaces, and our communities.

We're doing all we can to empower individuals to take an active role in preparing themselves, their families, and neighbors to prepare for, respond to, and recover from all hazards.  Our own personal readiness, however, is also a key part of the WCDRT's ability to serve community residents during times of crisis.  By preparing for emergencies, we enhance the safety of our families and strengthen our ability to assist others post disaster.  There are several ways that you and your families can get ready: We all have an important role to play in bolstering preparedness for disasters of all kinds.  Let's work together to make our families, friends, and community safer, more resilient, and better prepared for the next emergency.

As always, thank you for all you do to keep Wai`anae safe.  Feel free to forward this message to those close to you.

Best Regards,

Volunteer, Wai`anae Coast Disaster Readiness Team (WCDRT)
