Serving the Lord, with you!
Joseph’s Circumstance

You likely know of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Jacob’s 11th son, Joseph.  Each of these men faced high points and low points in their lives, but it seems that Joseph's low points were not self-inflicted.  He was beaten and sold into slavery by his jealous brothers, wrongly accused by the wife of his master, left in prison for over two years.  Through all of these difficult circumstances he remained faithful to the Lord.
Remember the words of Paul:
I Thessalonians 5
"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."

It is easy for me to become discouraged when I look at everything going on, but when I run to God and rest in his will I find that the circumstances are easier to overcome.  If you are finding yourself in difficult circumstances be encouraged!  God is in control, knows the future, and is working even in your circumstances.

Ministry Update

The beginning of a new school year is always an exciting time.  This year things are a little different, but ICSB has begun the school year with in-person learning, but also with many restrictions and safety protocols.  The general feel of the beginning of the year was that of tiredness, but things seem to be feeling more normal as each day goes by.  The High School Retreat is one of the premier events at ICSB and is still scheduled to happen in less than one month.  The senior class is busy preparing this retreat to be impactful on the high school community!
The summer training for staff went well.  It was full of learning new protocols and planning for the many different possibilities that may arise due to the pandemic.  On a very positive note, all of the new teachers for ICSB have arrived, been through training, and have acclimated to the new setting.  Thank you for those of you that were praying that they would all be permitted to enter the country under the current circumstances.
More Exciting Ministry News

As one of my teachers was held up in the United States I have had the opportunity to substitute for a small group of students that are English Language Learners.  Some of these students have never heard the gospel of Jesus before.  One day we were doing a vocabulary exercise in which the students were asked to find words that were not familiar to them.  One of the students found the word "salvation" and asked what it means.  This led to an opportunity to present the gospel to her and the class for the first time!  In the days following I was able to use an ABWE resource called "The Story of Hope" to present an overview of the Bible and how it is exposing our sin and directing us to Jesus.  I am praying for several of the students that seem receptive to trusting in Christ for their salvation.  Please pray for them in the coming days as I challenge them to repent of their sins and turn to Jesus for salvation!
Financial Update
As you probably know, our family transitioned from short-term to long-term service with ABWE this summer.  We feel that God is calling us to serve in a more permanent capacity at ICSB, but with this change came new financial challenges.
I am happy to report that God worked in an amazing way concerning our finances throughout the summer.  We returned to Michigan staring at a financial hurdle that seemed too large to overcome.  We continued to pray and began to tell people of the needs that were in front of us and throughout the summer more and more people responded to God's leading and joined our support team.  We are excited to announce that 98% of our financial need is committed by 44 families or individuals and 4 churches!  In order to reach our goal of 100% we need a few more people to join our team.  Please consider becoming a part of our ministry team by supporting us through ABWE.  There is a link above.
