Hey here's the stuff I found interesting this week in 3D...

Zbrush 2021 trailer showcases a familiar feature
The cloth brush introduced in Blender 2.83 was praised industry wide - so it should come as no surprise that Zbrush has announced the same feature in it's upcoming 2021 release. Comments on the video announcement point out the copying, but considering Blender's sculpting functionality behaves almost identically to Zbrush (launched in 1999), I think it's wise not to throw stones! Personally I'm just glad to see Blender starting to set some industry trends.

How to make a quick blanket in Blender
The final part of the couch tutorial series! This one covers how to easily create a blanket draped over furniture using the cloth simulator and newly optimized self-collision feature. Watch the full series for free here.

Short 2D style animation made in Blender
The new grease pencil functionality in Blender doesn't get nearly as much attention as it deserves. Hopefully little shorts like this tempt more studios.

Learning good character design
If you make characters, learning good character design should be at the top of your 'skills to learn' list. I haven't followed this course myself, but "Creating Appealing Characters" by Disney artist Dylan Ekren looks fantastic. I've spoken with him and he knows his stuff. This is one of his student's recent work.

Follow me on twitter for more interesting stuff that doesn't make it here.

PS. Now that the couch tutorial is finished, I'm trying to decide what tutorial to make next. Could you help by filling in this short survey? Then I'll know what sort of subjects you're generally interested in.
