Victorian Tumour Summits
Breast, melanoma and pancreatic cancer summits are planned for this year. A clinical working party, co-chaired by Miss Jane Fox at Monash Health and Dr Belinda Yeo at Austin Health, has been formed and is meeting for the Breast Cancer 2021 Summit. It is anticipated the Summit will be held in person at the RACV City Club, Melbourne, in mid-to-late June. The melanoma summit and repeat pancreatic summit are planned for the second half of the year. Consumers will continue to feature prominently at the summits, with consumer presentations held on the day.

Consumer perspective: Prostate cancer
Paul Wagner and Susan Stacpoole
Paul Wagner was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017 at the age of 55 after obtaining a second opinion. He first attended a GP in 2012 but was not tested for prostate-specific antigen. Five years later and symptomatic, Paul was again denied a PSA test. Paul’s wife, Susan Stacpoole, has also experienced a cancer diagnosis and treatment. 'I remember going to a COSA Annual Scientific Meeting years ago and there would be, for example, the breast and lung interest groups meeting concurrently in adjacent rooms. In the lung room you would have had maybe half a dozen people and next door at the breast meeting, it would be overflowing – standing room only. That wouldn't be the case now.
