Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

The house was filled with excitement as we tried to cram 40+ people in our 10x10 bathroom. Students were standing on the toilet, others were peering through our glass shower, and some were sitting on top of the sink counter. This was not a game of sardines as you might suspect, but rather, one of the most powerful moments of Kendall's life. Just a week earlier we had baptized 6 students in a horse trough at the "Revival Barn" 2 miles away from campus. It was a glory filled night of obedience to God's word, testimonies, victories, and a public declaration before heaven and earth that Jesus Christ is Lord over these student's lives. Kendall, however, came to me after the service with tears streaming down her face. She knew God was calling her into the waters of baptism, but she had let others dissuade her from doing what God was asking her to do. The sorrow that leads to repentance was gripping her soul.

Have you ever felt like that before? Do you have losses, regrets, missed moments? I do, we all do.  BUT God’s incredible mercy always comes to the rescue of a sincere and repentant heart. Our repentant step of obedience towards Him accelerates and redeems the lost time. From one moment to the next Kendall found that we serve the God of second chances, our redeemer who can pull us out of any pit, set our feet on a rock and give us a firm place to stand (Ps 40:2).

As Kendall went under the water that night, all her losses, regrets, sins, and mistakes were buried with Christ in our 100-year-old bathtub and when she came up she was raised to newness of life! This is the simple yet powerful Gospel and the good news we boldly proclaim day after day to this next generation. There are no words to describe God’s mercy and Christ’s mighty work of salvation in the lives of our students at FIRESTARTERS. Thank you for helping us work in this harvest field, I'm telling you, the harvest is plentiful and the WYNNS HOUSE IS ON FIRE AND FULL!!!!!!

  • Did you know that 70 percent of international students are never invited into an American person's home during their 4 years of college?
  • Did you know that many of our future world leaders are currently studying here in our US colleges and universities?
  • Did you know that God is sending the nations to our backyard so we can reach them with the Gospel?
That is why this year we focused on inviting international students to our Friendsgiving celebration and many came from different countries to experience turkey, stuffing and green bean casserole, but they also received a warm loving home, genuine friendship, and the presence of Jesus.

TESTIMONY: As we sang a popular worship song called "Reckless Love" the Holy Spirit came upon a Vietnamese student so powerfully that all she could do was weep for almost 30 minutes straight. When I asked her what was happening to her, all she could muster up and say was the "Love" that we were singing about in that song was filling up her heart like she had never experienced before. It was so beautiful! We have a core value at Firestarters and it is to be hospitable to the presence the Holy Spirit. I always tell our students, just bring your friends because if they hang out by the pool, they're going to get wet!

Our vision these last 4 years has been to see a student-led contending house of prayer on our campus. God answered our prayers! This fall, FIRESTARTERS launched CHOP (Campus House of Prayer) with 3 gatherings every week and our student leaders Jacob, Tyrone, and Elisabeth along with 30+ students have been joyfully pursuing God in the place of prayer, worship, and the word." Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled." Matthew 5:6
