On Tuesday 3 May, Avila took part in the SCSA badminton tournament for the first time. During trials, it was great to see the enthusiasm and number of students interested in taking part. Whilst we weren’t able to prepare as well as we could have due to unforeseen circumstances with training, we performed as if we had been training for weeks. Our junior, intermediate and senior teams played extremely well together, bonding early in the tournament, and cheering each other on as we played.
After a great day of sportsmanship and teamwork, our intermediate and senior teams secured a spot in the semi-finals which placed them 3rd overall for the tournament. Whilst we didn’t qualify for the finals, I am very proud of our efforts, considering the little time we had together. Our junior team placed 5th overall, with their liveliness and determination setting a great example for us all. As a whole, we are particularly proud of our juniors, as, for many of them, this was their first experience with an inter-school sports event.

The mothers of Avila students have always played an integral part in our College's life. Their lives are the key inspiration for our young women. Thank-you to all of our mothers of past students, present students and staff. Thank-you to all of those who continue to be the nurturers of our young people.
