Avila College News

Dear Avila Community

"Let nothing frighten you nor worry you" and "Be the light" for each other are true reflections of the spirit of our Avila family coming back together. We resume together onsite gradually and we look out for each other in every sense of the concept. Thank you.

Our Year 12 students should be so incredibly proud of themselves. As they celebrated their final day of secondary school, they demonstrated such maturity, poise and kindness for each other. Our COVIDSafe celebrations provided an opportunity to come together in homerooms for a virtual liturgy, graduation ceremony and reflection on their Avila journey. There were some tears shed, much laughter heard and lots of memories shared. We trust that our Year 12 families enjoyed the supper pack sent home to enjoy while watching the graduation video. Congratulations Avila College Class of 2021. We will miss you.

In more good news, we welcomed our Year 7, 10 and 11 students back onsite today. Charles Street was once again a hub of activity as our masked students happily sanitised their hands at the gate and headed to their lockers and Homerooms. There has been an excited buzz all day as students catch up with friends, reconnect with their teachers and retake their seats in the classroom. It is not long to go until we are all back together again.

In the meantime, we will continue to work together to gradually return to school in a safe, supportive and joyful way.

Have a lovely weekend.

Faith & Mission

Weekly Prayer

Heavenly Father,

In all our travelling, Lord may it be your footsteps in which we place our feet.

We pray for our Year 12 students as they embark on the next phase of their journey. May they turn to you for guidance and support as the experiences they encounter on the road ahead challenge and inspire them.

Watch over our Year 10 and Year 11 students as they turn their attention to the next phase in their education. May they too embrace the challenges and excitement of new and ongoing studies. Comfort and guide them in their work and study.

Lord God, hear our prayers for all our students including our Year 7's to Year 9's, keep them close in your presence and walk with them on their journey. In all their travelling may your footsteps guide them.  As they stumble on the way, help them put their trust in you. May it be your footsteps in which they place their feet.

Amen
