Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Avila Oratory Competition. Held during lunchtimes across term one, students were required to respond to a range of prompts and present a speech to their peers. The adjudicators, Elizabeth Dinh and Sophie Marinis (Public Speaking and Debating Captains) looked at the way our students responded to the prompt, their engagement with the audience, and their control of their subject matter. All of our participating students performed with great skill, regaling the audience with their wide range of approaches, from entertaining anecdotes and exploration of grand ideas, to persuasive speeches on the urgent need for equality in our society. We thank all students for their participation, and those who attended as audience members too.
