Opening School Masses, Liturgies and Leader Commissioning
Avila College marked the start of the 2022 school year with COVIDSafe Liturgical celebrations and the formal commissioning of the student leaders.

Student Leadership Seminar
On Tuesday the 2022 Student Leaders participated in a workshop facilitated by Yellow Arrow. Together they focused on the importance of having a clear vision, discussed different type of leaders and set goals for the year ahead.

Some of the 'lightbulb moments' and comments from the workshop included:
  • “If you have a purpose, you will be more passionate”
  • “The different types of leaders (DISC) and how we can all bring out different strengths together to form one great leadership team”
  • "It’s not always about meeting deadlines and stresses but also engaging a community and having fun”

Our Week in Pictures
This week Avila students had the chance to participate in a range of co-curricular activities and clubs during lunchtime including Junior Dragons sport club, cricket, choir, craft club, Peer Helper games and the Creative Arts auditions.

Reminder

Third-dose vaccinations for 16-17 year olds
COVID-19 third-dose vaccinations are now available to 16–17 year olds who had their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine three or more months ago. Getting vaccinated is one of the most important steps we can all take to get direct protection against COVID-19.
 
How to book an appointment
You can book your appointment in a few different ways, including: in person: talk to your local pharmacy or GP, or attend one of the state vaccination centres: www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/vaccination-centres

Reminder

Street Parking
Parents are reminded to please obey Council parking signs and to not block driveways at drop off and pick up times in the neighbouring streets around the College. Monash Council parking inspectors regularly patrol these streets in the morning and afternoon on school days.

Community Announcements

How to get (and keep) your child motivated this year?

Elevate Education is hosting a free 60-minute webinar on Wednesday 23rd February at 6:00pm. Topics include

  • The causes of student demotivation and how to solve them;
  • Goals that actually cause demotivation;
  • How parents can help their child set goals that will help them get (and stay) motivated;
  • The role parents play in motivation.
