Various Items...

Good morning, Unity friends.

I recently learned that I unintentionally missed some of you in my past couple of messages.  For this, I apologize.  I believe I have rectified the issue now.

I will attempt to include all of the important details of late within this email.

Note that there is also some brand new information here, so don't miss that.

First off, two important notes from the Social Team:

#1. I need to highlight a few corrections due to my misunderstanding of their 2nd Annual Cookie & Pie Sale.
  a)  They are only asking people to bring cookies, not just any dessert.
  b)  They do not need a full ingredients list on the cookies.  But do write down potential allergens, if any.
  c)  Drop off cookies at the church between 2:00pm-4:00pm on November 18.
  d)  Purchase cookies at the church between 10:00am-2:00pm on November 20.

#2. The Social Team produced a nice report about some of the activities and finances they've been involved in over the past decade (or so).  Please take some time to give it a read.  The report can be found here: SOCIAL TEAM REPORT in PDF FORMAT.

If you have any questions regarding the Social Team, please contact Louise Maier.

I have an update from Pastor Jeff to share with you all.

After consultation with his doctor, Pastor Jeff applied for Short Term Disability through the Benefits & Insurance program offered by the ELCIC.  He was recently approved.  This means that a portion of his salary will be covered by that program for a period of time, contingent on a number of factors.

However, this does not set a time frame for his leave of absence; it remains "indefinite".

Thank you for your continued prayers for Pastor Jeff and his family.

After a dialogue with the Worship Life Committee, we have decided to make the difficult decision to cancel two worship services: today's and next week's.

We feel as though the Advent season is a priority for holding services, so the current plan is for Rev. Dr. Nancy Cocks to present the sermons for regular hybrid worship services on the first three Sundays of Advent.

There are other roles in need of volunteers involving worship throughout Advent, so if you are interested in assisting, please contact Vicki or Joan.

To summarize:

- The regular Unity hybrid worship services of Sunday, November 14 and Sunday, November 21 have been cancelled.

- The regular Unity hybrid worship services of Sunday, November 28, Sunday, December 4 and Sunday, December 11 are tentatively a go.

- If you would like to help out the Worship Life Team, you may contact Vicki or Joan.

In lieu of our usual services these two weeks, you are encouraged to virtually connect with another parish in our denomination.

Follow this link for a list of online worship options offered throughout the ELCIC.
