Twentieth week after Pentecost

On this Thanksgiving weekend, we hear of the rich man who comes to ask Jesus what he should do to inherit eternal life. Mark’s gospel is alone in saying that Jesus looked on him and loved him. Out of love, not as judgment, Jesus offers him an open door to life: sell all you own and give it to the poor. Our culture bombards us with the message that we will find life by consuming. Our assemblies counter this message with the invitation to find life by divesting for the sake of the other.

Today’s Readings:

Amos 5:6-7, 10-15

Hebrews 4:12-16

Mark 10:17-31

Worship is now in-person and on zoom.

To show love for our neighbours and follow current Alberta Health restrictions for places of worship, we respect these guidelines:

please show no signs of illness

mask wearing is mandatory

physical distancing will be maintained in the church building

a record of your attendance will be kept for two weeks for contact tracing purposes

we strongly encourage only the double vaccinated to attend.

The parts for the exterior lift have been ordered, but repairs and an inspection still need to take place. It will likely be a few more weeks before the lift can be used. Thank you for your continued patience.

No Confirmation this week due to Thanksgiving. See you next week.

Zoom: Friend or Foe?

We have worshipped on Zoom for over a year now. What’s been great? What’s not been so good? How is God calling us to use technology to build connection and community in the future?

No preparation necessary — just come ready to discuss. Use the Sunday worship link.

Our outdoor Wednesday coffee corner is finished for the season.
