Council Updates

This is the second monthly email from Unity Council meant just for you!  I value this opportunity to interact with each and every one of you, however indirect it may be.

I hope this month's offering will both bless and inform you.

The Annual General Meeting is just around the corner.

It is scheduled for Sunday, February 28.  It will take via place via Zoom shortly after the worship service – around 11:00.

The Agenda for the Annual General Meeting is complete.  It is available here:

I strongly encourage each of you to read it as soon as possible.  If you have any major questions, concerns or suggestions, please inform myself (or any current Council Member) prior to our next Council Meeting -- on Wednesday, February 24.  That way, Council will have an opportunity to address your thoughts prior to the Annual General Meeting itself.  I do not make this suggestion with the intent of diminishing productive discussion during the Meeting; rather, it is aimed at avoiding any confusing or contentious debates based on the known limitations of the virtual medium of Zoom we are constrained to at this time.  Council's goal is to reach the most positive outcome on every point in the Agenda.

Just another quick reminder of the importance of having a sufficient number of Council Members in place at all times.  We currently have 6 out of 10 members confirmed for the upcoming term; thank you to newcomers Mary Ellen Watkins and Elaine Zimmer for their recent commitments to serve.

Could you be next?

The Online Auction will not take place in February, but it is picking up steam, nonetheless.  Although no hard date has been set, it will take place on Facebook.

Crystal has graciously offered to coordinate this event, with support from the Social Team.  (I know she will not turn down more help, so please do let her know if you'd like to co-coordinate with her.)

How can you help??  We need stuff!!  (It is an Auction, after all.)

Whether it's a thoughtfully-curated 'household essentials' pack, a gift card to your favourite local meat shop, homemade kuchen or tarts, an extra (unused) Instapot from the Christmas haul, or your very own handmade work of art... the sky's the limit.  We will gratefully accept your donations of ANY size.

In case you're wondering, those who donate items/services do not need to be involved in the online activities in any way, and you do no need Facebook to participate!  All the work of taking photos, posting them online, setting up and monitoring the auction, managing disputes and tracking income will be taken care of by the coordinator(s).  We want this event to be accessible, achievable and meaningful for the entire congregation.

At our most recent Council Meeting, we approved the Minutes of the previous Meeting (January 6, 2021).

You can access those Minutes here:

That's all I have for now.

As always, if you have a suggestion or inquiry regarding Unity Council, it would be great to hear from you.

I can be reached at:

Peace be with you,
